Creating a Bilingual Animated Video to Promote the Fostering Journey in Wales
What was the objective?
Did you know the cost-of-living crisis has impacted every sector, including foster care?
In 2022, more than half of foster carers considered stepping away due to financial strain. This could lead to a significant increase in the number of children entering the foster care system.
Maethu Cymru | Foster Wales plays a vital role across all 22 local authorities in Wales, ensuring that children in foster care receive the support they need.
To address this challenge, Maethu Cymru | Foster Wales in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot approached us to create engaging animations for their social media, aimed at educating and inspiring people to take the first important step into fostering.
What were the key challenges?
Catering to a Diverse Audience
It was essential to create content that resonated with a broad audience, encompassing the organisation’s diverse workforce, supporters, and, most importantly, the children in need of fostering.
Representing a Sensitive Subject
In handling topics as delicate as this, it’s crucial to collaborate closely with the client to ensure the visual representation aligns with their vision and conveys their message with accuracy and respect.
Keeping It Clear and Concise
Since this animation will be shared on social media, we’ll tailor its duration to suit various platforms, ensuring maximum impact within their constraints.
Brand Consistency and Accessibility
The content needs to be adaptable for use across other areas of the brand.
We handled the production process from idea generation to final asset delivery, working closely with the client to develop the script and ensuring it was accurate and respectful. Although condensing extensive information into a short animation was challenging, we successfully tailored the video's duration to suit various social platforms.
Throughout the project, we remained faithful to their brand style, drawing inspiration from their distinctive triple-circle design. We created a motion style that perfectly complemented the minimalist line artwork, achieving seamless transitions between scenes to maintain viewer engagement. Additionally, to promote inclusivity, we provided a bilingual version for their Welsh-speaking audience.
What were the Deliverables?
FINAL VIDEO
The final video as a full HD MP4 for both English and Welsh versions.
SUBTITLES
We provided Subtitles, one hard coded into the video (for events) and one where it could be switched off (for online) for both English and Welsh versions.
THUMBNAILS
The client also received custom thumbnails for their animation.
OWNERSHIP
The client received ownership of all the artwork and assets, meaning they could receive all the files free of charge.
I was really impressed by the animation Motion Manor created for us to attract local authority foster carers in Wales. Ant understood our vision, and worked with us to get it exactly how we wanted it.
