Positive Impact

We're a proud B-Corp Certified Animation Studio, one of a handful globally.

Our mission is to become the industry leader in positive sustainability practice amongst animation and illustration studios worldwide, without compromising on delivering awe-inspiring creative work.

Despite being a small business, we believe we can make a big impact on the world as we grow. Whether that’s protecting the planet, respecting the artists we work with or minimising waste.

Our hope is that working with Motion Manor will be a truly wonderful experience, whether you’re a client, a freelancer or a member of our team.

As time progresses, our goals and commitments will become more ambitious. After all, the larger we become, the bigger the impact we can make on the world.

These commitments will act as a guide, to ensure as we grow, we never lose sight of our Vision:

“To create awe-inspiring animated content that helps leave the world a better place than we found it.”

Our commitments are built on four pillars:

  • Low Carbon Operations
  • Sustainable Design
  • Our Clients
  • Our People, Partners and Suppliers

Impact Reports

In an effort to be transparent, as well as track our progress as we scale, we will publish annual Impact Reports that summarise some of the big changes we've made, or the things we accomplished in that financial year.

The Four Pillars

Low Carbon Operations

Whilst a small but mighty studio, we’re taking BIG steps to keep our footprint as low as possible.

  1. Our office is powered by 100% renewable energy
  2. Our web hosting is powered with 100% renewable energy using Krystal Hosting.
  3. We have a "No-drive" office policy, where if you can't commute via walking, cycling or public transport you can work 100% remotely.
  4. Our Internal Team (and most of our creative supply chain)  is plant-based.
  5. We track our Carbon Footprint which will be shared annually in our "Motion Manor Impact Report"
  6. We currently offset individual footprints with Ecologi and are actively looking for a more comprehensive & local offsetting option.

Sustainable Design

Creating and maintaining a sustainable production process is one of the most overlooked aspects of creative studios. These are steps we're taking to ensure our creative process has a minimal environmental impact.

  1. We commit to minimising all paper-based waste by prioritising a digital-first production process.
  2. Where possible, our equipment and supply purchases are refurbished or pre-owned.
    1. Where not possible, we endeavour to use ethical suppliers or Local Small Businesses (B-Corp Certified, FSC Accredited).
  3. All of our Client Discovery Calls and Onboarding Process is done remotely.
  4. As of December 2023, 66% of our team is Carbon Literacy Certified and ALBERT Trained in Sustainable Production (BAFTA).
  5. We have a clear Waste Management Policy ensuring waste is disposed of appropriately.

Our Clients

We work with a broad range of clients, ranging from Public Sector to international brands. A running theme throughout, is they’re trying to make the world a better place.

We love working with organisations that have a purpose or social mission. Over the years we have helped:

  • A large Charity relay key research findings to stakeholders in the form of animated explainer videos.
  • Local Authorities recruit, diversify and educate their workforce with brand-tailored animated recruitment campaigns.
  • The National Healthcare Service educate its audience by creating App Demo videos for their appointment booking software.
  • Foster Care Agencies inspire, educate and recruit new Foster Carers across both cinema and TV advertising campaigns.
  • A Global Brand protect its trademark with memorable and educational internal communication videos.
  • A Global Green Tech Business to showcase Product Videos for their new Air-Compression Vehicle Technology around the globe.
  • Plant-Based food brands reach more customers on social media with engaging animated content.

If the above doesn’t sound like you, don’t worry. We’re more than happy to have a virtual coffee to understand better who you are and what you’re trying to achieve. At the very least, we can definitely point you in the right direction.

Our People, Partners & Suppliers

From the outside looking in the animation industry looks super fun to work in!

The unfortunate reality is the wider animation industry has been rife with unfavourable working conditions for a while. Ranging from forced unpaid overtime through to globally conspired wage scandals.

We will give our artists, both internal and external, the respect they deserve.

Internal (Staff)

  1. We commit to paying all our staff a Living Wage, as determined by the Real Living Wage Foundation.
  2. We commit to paying overtime to staff as and when overtime is required.
  3. We understand that the office landscape has changed, therefore we have Flexible, Remote and Hybrid Working Policies in place for our staff.

External (Supply Chain, Freelancers etc)

  1. We commit to paying our suppliers on time, at the latest within 30 days of receipt of the invoice.
  2. We will give our artists the right to showcase work which isn’t under Confidentiality Clauses.
  3. We will prioritise working with freelancers & artists who share not only our values but the values of the specific projects we are working on at that time.

Let's make the world a better place

Creating positive change is at the heart of everything we do, from the way we operate to who we work with.
